As I may or may not have mentioned, the Sod machine is slowly grinding away and hoping to find feet soon. Hopefully landing on a stage near you, while fighting with and breaking the home PC. I got to chatting to many people who can only be best described as...well...the consumer. They who will buy our product and support us...if we are able to capture their imaginations that is. And while chatting away about how I would like to follow in the footsteps of our genres forefathers (The Blom boets in all their various shapes and forms and other lesser known more mortal forgetables that inspired.). And while droning on and on about the likes of V.O.D., Terminatryx, Slayride, Odyssey, Raven Wolf, Neshama....I was met with a blank..wie die vok is hulle look!! To defend your heros you obviously pull out the SAMA award winning K.O.B.U.S.-Swaarmetaal album and spin the f***er!! Only to be told...never heard of it...but its okay hey, not bad for an Afrikaans band! Are you sh*tting me!!! In other words winning a SAMA is like cotching in your mouth, glad you caught it...but what the f*ck now and it leaves a sh*t taste in your mouth when STILL nobody knows you exist!!!

Anyhoo crashed my PC...AGAIN!!! Uhm scored a sweet deal with a peddle I swopped with another S.A. legend. Wonder if I should name drop...hhhhmmm...f*** it why not, what is the point if you dont share right??? Rob from Agro was awesome enough to swop with me AND pre-load effects on to it! *This mortal bows before your brilliance might Sir Rob* So been jamming like a toffee in my own make shift band room. Coming up with some intresting ideas and riffs...but OMG man!! The playing is so not crisp and tidy...if I were listening to me play I would throw empty beer bottles at my head!!! So its a case of jam and jam some more before anything gets put into the public domain. Not sure if thats punishment or a relief for you guys!!!??? Oh and a mighty huge thanks to Captain Awesome for setting up the entire peddle swop action thingy!! Send my regards to Metal Parrot...his still not taking my calls!!

Seems in the midst of all the strike action and slowly emerging from recessions. We shall be able to go out and actually a)have a beer without k*kking for the rest of the month b)go watch a band and think, yeah I deserve this c)brace for the next **** r*pe goverment will bestow upon us poor peasants.

All in all its still great to be an African where cops ask for a bribe. Druken drivers can beat cops to death with their bare hands, ministers can withhold public domain info...because they can and we can eat sh*t if we dont like it. This here land is not for sissies nor for the faint of heart...and according to Robert Mugabe...not for the White Imperialistic British Trash either...but he still wants he donations God Dammit!!!

The Premier South African Fest!

Great sound, great lighting, crazy assed crowd, christians praying, people moshing, what more can a band ask for?! Dust? Heh heh heh…..

The highlight of our gigging calender each year we play it, ‘Koppi’ is what every band in S.A yearns for, the most proffessional festival in the country.

All organisers should take a page from it’s book and see how it’s done. We were looking forward to it for months and definitely were not dissapointed.

We took the stage at 9pm and laid waste to all and sundry! It’s always great to see “newbies” in the crowd all “wide eyed” and “shell shocked”.

The show was streamed live to great acclaim amd even got a mention on Radio Jacaranda of all places. This year ‘Koppi “upped the ante” by turning the 2nd stage (Most amazing myn stage) into a metal stage for the saturday, supporting local metal and giving the fans what they deserved!

Thanks to Misha, Renee and all the rest of the organisers for putting together an Epic ‘Fest

Anyone who hasn’t attended are well advised to make a plan next year!

Got feedback from my Cape Town body guard best mate Ninja about the Clash of the Titans Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer shows that were shown on the big screens in cinema. He explained that once Metallica came on there was a mass stampede to the bottom of the screen to induldge in headbanging frenzy of note!!! Unfortunately through a dizzy alcoholic haze he realized he was the only one who decided to induldge...! No problem...back to his seat to pint on the smuggeled Vodka he brought. Only to feel the urge again when Slayer appeared!! Imagine a cinema loaded with people...and one bricksh*t house built wall standing below the screen swinging his long, long wavy hair furiously. Sounds mental...and very METTTAAAAALLLLLL! And yes The Ninja is available for your shows, his service includes standing in front of the stage all show long banging and moshing till he bleeds. Also included is punching people in the teeth with a draught glass still in hand...if peeps talk sh*t about your show! Had a conversation with someone about the state of our music scene this weekend. Man o man...its sounding all the same, the talent on the instruments is mind blowning. But add the metal core voice and...yyyyyaaaawwwn...boring!!! What we need is more controversy, less emo and back to basics rock/metal rooted music...sampeling permissable. Music is too safe..unlike the '80's with the mega dangerous...ooohhhh...King Diamond, Judas Priest and Ozzy and many others. Laughable by todays standards yes...entertaining musically and visually...YES even by todays standards! Some of the tracks are over 30 years old and STILL get the head knodding. Not too many bands can brag that right after 5 months of their product being put in the public domain!

Right so on that note I see my good old friends from the Cape Terminatryx (Gods of the Industrial Metal scene!) have blogged. Off to see what news they have to lay before us...have a pimp evening.

Anyhoo! Nothing to report from camp Sod...yet! Have something very cool in mind though and hope to give you some feedback on it before the year is out. Yes...some rock gods still have long a** crack day jobs to do! It will take a while but even I am very, very keen to hear what comes out of the mixing pot ja ja!

Big shout outs to a couple of new artists to MSN...one in particular is kind of cool. Cosmos Laguna...dude...intresting stuff...metalcore fans...f*** off with your hate mail!! Its for industrial/electro minded dweebs such as I. The other names elude me now...but big up to the creativity. As for most everyone else...heard it...boring...your not going to make it! And that is just the way we like 'em on MSN...unknown but still eager and dedicated! Profit making spammer....DDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I have attached a photo of the new drummer for Prime Circle who spent the day with the Raven and crew at the 702 Walk the Talk. And yes......he was star struck...and no...I refused to pose and sign his left breast!! That is all I have to say on the matter.

The Raven

It’s hard to believe that the months are already marching their final stretch towards the end of yet another year.  But what a year it has turned into!  Some suspicion has arisen amidst those who follow the deeds of Mind Assault that in this year, deeds have been few and far between.  We agree.  Up until July, we had only performed one 2010 show so far!  Truth be told, we were not expecting to play very many at all.  Nonetheless, our gig-lust has prevailed and we’ve been stomping quite a few stages of late… despite being slap bang in the middle of an arduous recording process.

We made a return to the well known ROAR in Observatory, Cape Town, for the first time in a year.  To the exact date, in fact – but stranger things have happened.  We were invited onto the bill along with old friends ‘The Warinsane’ and ‘Stellitius’, among others, and the gig was an amazing success.  We have honestly never seen such a capacity crowd at ROAR before, so a big thanks to all who came out to support.  This was followed just weeks later by another record attendance to the www.metal4africa.com WinterFest’10 in Stellenbosch.  WOW!  Awesome crowd, complete with chanting and blood and guts and, and, and, and…

Then came the true triumph of our year thus far.  Oppikoppi.  We felt deeply honoured to be one of the 2 or 3 bands selected from across the entire country to represent the “extreme metal” genre at this years installation of South Africa’s longest running and most coveted music festival.  Amazingly, this is also the first year out of 16 that the festival has sold out!  We played an excellent time slot to an excellent and receptive crowd.  Although it is not likely that many of them knew our music so well as our home province audiences, the guys & gals made us feel well at home, and the “we want more” chanting at the end definitely made our year so far.  Thank you!

Back in the Cape, work on our next release continues.  Gigs also continue!  We will return to Stellenbosch this weekend (Saturday 14 August, 2010) to play at Aandklas along with some interesting bands including a “reunion”-styled gig by the long departed ‘Antipathy’.

At the end of this month (Saturday 28 August, 2010) Mind Assault will make our first appearance for the year in Cape Towns ‘Northern Suburbs’ region with the much anticipated ‘THE METALZONE’ concert at Muzone.  Also at that show will be the return of ‘Wolven Decorum’, the debut of ‘Suiderbees’, and also appearances by ‘Moment of Clarity’ and ‘Symphonic Schizophrenia’.  We look forward to seeing many of our old friends from the area there.

Later this year may possibly see Mind Assault returning to Namibia, and definitely a release of a 6 track EP, “Metal Rites” which we plan to make available for free download.  This will serve as a ‘thank you’ to our supporters for 6 years of giving us the courage to continue, and also a taste of things to come.

Dont know about you but after surviving the build up to the 2010 world cup AND the actual world cup event. You cant help but wonder to yourself...HOW COULD THINGS BE WORSE THAN IT WAS DUIRING THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE!!!! For f*** sakes our goverment sucks cash cow d*** and is 100% more useless than the entire failed Matric class of 2007! From 5 lane highway awesomeness to 2 lane and if your really lucky 3 lane highways. Its like Heaven on Earth was handed to us for a month and then yanked back away right after. Big poo sandwich for you goverment...YOU SUCK!

Another big poo sarmie goes out to all the money hungry motherf***ers in out tiny music industry! So far I have heard of 'big celebs" offering free shows to a charity and then going buy my shirts and hand them out to the kids...erm...doos...ITS FOR CHARITY! Then performing one song...and f***ing off...you lost two fans that day. Two young boys who had nothing but great things to say about you...till that show you tw*t! Also people trying to secure a solid foundation for artists, equipment suppliers, events people to work from and create a pool of unlimited oppertunities get f***ed over...by the very people they are trying to assist! As in the final words of Adolf Hitler...the German people (you nut f*cks who 'support' the scene) are not worthy of me!

And in the name of all that is unholy (Facebook!) bands, artists and general c*nts in general stop spamming people about sh*t! We dont know you, want to know you, let alone spend money on your weak product...so f*** off! Take your stinky attitudes and go get a real job and stop spunging of your mama and papa.

Having just weathered a super dose of flesh eating flu viruses, it makes me happy to see other still suffering from it. Die b*stards die!! Why so cold and inhumane? Well simply because some Patrick aka P**s (trying to quit that word) spread is filth onto me! SIES!

Another week flies by and another uneventful MSN moment happens. Maybe we get lucky next week, have a great weekend!

Like yourself I find myself at this little site pondering the same thing every underground warrior eventually ponders. What the f*** am I doing here and better yet....why are you here? Well answer is simple really...birds of a feather flock together.

Being of an age where I should be settled and seen everything worth seeing. I still find myself oddly compelled to see what is happening in my beloved underground/alternative scene. And when I peek...all I see is a bunch of w*nker, money hungry p*ssies! Yes I understand things cost money to run, but to scr*w your own kind at every given corner. Man o man...not on and its the reason the scene could never work and will never work. Which is weird because at one stage going from club to club, festival to festival...man o man there were plenty of folk supporting.

Oddly enough on the opposite side of the spectrum we have those whom support. Still buy albums and merchandise...and skip rent, but only on international acts. And yes I agree each to their own...but consider the fact that for that one band you waited years to see. You will only see them from a moere distance and probably watch the big **** tellies on the side of the screen to see anything. Pay the cost of an entree fee to a local gig, plus your nights boozing and transport. So ask yourself...was it still worth it??? Answer...f*** NO! Unless its Slayer and you come home with cracked ribs and a bloody nose!

I love metal, industrial, alternative, rock-a-billy (no Guns Go Bang are not rockabilly fool!!!) and punk and so on and so forth. But really for a bunch of higher intellectuals we just cant seem to get our scenes dynamics right. While Danny K is a big roller and laughs all the way to the bank...the metalheads jeer and wave him off as insignificant. Yes...but he has the stench of a super model on is middle finger and a wad of cash in his pocket. Joke is on us!

Moral of my story? I am going to dress like Danny K, dance like Danny K and be awesome like Danny K...and you can smell my finger if you want to!

All of Eternity in conjunction with Marshall Music, Joburg Promusica, Everlast Tattoo, RockingSA and Safi Soundz is putting together a festival for all people in South-Africa that love Hard Rock and Metal. Hard Rock and Metal Has come a long way from the mid 60’s and has given birth to some of the most existing bands like Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction to name a few. It has also evolved into sub genres from Traditional metal, Trash metal, Death metal, Black metal, Power metal, Doom and gothic metal, Alternative metal, Nu metal to the recent trend Metalcore. Hard Rock and Metal has grown to such an phenomenal that over the continent people are throwing there fists and party spirits in the air at every festival these bands play at and in continental Europe, especially Germany and Scandinavia, metal continues to be broadly popular.

Well-established British acts such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden continue to have chart success on the continent, as do a range of local groups. Over the last 3 months All of Eternity, RockingSA and Safi Soundz auditioned 42 bands from Gauteng (at Full Moon Lounge) and Bloemfontein(at Barbas Bar) to get the best in the South of Africa's Hard Rock and Metal bands to perform at the Joburg Promusica Theatre Roodepoort. This is the Time for South African Hard Rock & Metal to shine and let the world know that we have some of the awesome and spectacular bands here in our country. This festival is a performance that will run from the 5th of July to the 10th of July with 5 different bands on each night so every night is a different performance.  Not only will the bands but the audience experience an music explosion of sound with Marshall Music staking the stage with sound, guitar racks, base racks and a drum set to die for, while making it look like an Metalica stage.  On the 10th of July we will be featuring the top 5 band of the other nights to end this festival with a high note. If you just want to come and check the basement bands you will pay  R60 at the door but if you have a ticket for the main Theatre stage you will have access to the basement 30 min before the last band has finished there set, and the basement theatre is also for the after party's. There are 300 seats available per night so get your ticket now. We will also feature in the basement with two different awesome bands every night. All of Eternity also had auditions for photographers, So on the night there will only be 3 photographers that will be aloud to take pictures of the show, So if you need any pictures you can contact them. Not only is the Joburg Promusica Theatre Roodepoort the place to be between the 5th and 10 July it has some awesome prices like R8 a local beer and R10 tequila to name a few.

With their first single “Sirens” receiving massive airplay on 5FM, Highveld Stereo, KFM, East Coast Radio etc and having reached no 1 on just about all Campus stations country wide 4am are showing no signs of slowing down!!!!

The band have also confirmed this week they will be doing an interview on 5fm’s top 40 show with Sureshnie Rider this Sat 30th June as “Sirens” the bands  first single has been moving up the charts at a rapid pace on 5fm’s top 40 as well.

The band will be performing live on KTV on Saturday morning the 14th August and have also Confirmed featured articles in the in flight magazines for both one time airlines and Mango.

The band is determined to keep pushing, so expect a lot more from them in the not too distant future.

I have discovered that I have a extrordinary addiction to Vivaldi's Four seasons. It creates a sensation similiar to that of the great M.O. I have goosebumps all over....

Listening to PJ Harvey as it brings out the softer, femine side of me that hardly anyone ever gets to see. Throw some No doubt and the Cranberries into the mix and it seems like I am a typical girly girl dancing around crazy and singing along way too loud...and I actually do know the words to some of Nelly Furtado's old and weird songs.

Onto the punks...Juliette and the Licks and the Distillers for some wild sing-a-long fun that makes me feel extremely rebelious. Damn, if only I had the guts to pull of those outfits and heavy make up.

In peak-hour traffic, I put on my favourite metal playlist. Its always good to come back to just plain fucking awesome metal...listening to Metallica's whiplash I realise that metal will always be at the centre of my world, because my head is banging, I have goosebumps all over, the excitement is bubbling over because I just want to get out of my car and mosh... and the person sitting next to me is looking at me really confused...
